MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
At least one year of library experience
PREFERENCES:
Customer service experience
Experience providing Interlibrary Loan services
Skills in data entry and computer searching
Duties and Responsibilities:
Acts as the State Library’s Interlibrary Loan Coordinator; assists librarians, library staff, administrators and library interest groups throughout the state with lending activities.
Assist in coordinating and promoting the State Library’s resource sharing platform.
Assists with packing, unpacking and distributing the State Library’s interlibrary loan books through U.S. mail, including maintaining records and verifying the quantity of outbound interlibrary loan items.
Loan library materials to patrons and collect returned materials
Assists in coordinating activities of the Lending Services Unit of the State Library.
Help maintain library materials and collections.
Register new patrons and issue library cards.
Answer routine questions from patrons.
Perform routine clerical tasks such as answering phones and organizing files.
Performs other work-related duties as required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to communicate clearly with patrons, co-workers and supervisors, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work with a variety of computer applications
Ability to lift and process boxes of books that may weigh up to 20 pounds
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, stretch and/or twist.
Ability to push loaded book trucks.
Ability to climb and descend stairs.
