The Librarian I supports the efforts of local library branches primarily in the areas of children’s
materials and assistant management of branches. Work responsibilities include performing
circulation, performing collection maintenance, creating and implementing programs and events,
serving patrons and the public, assisting in the management of a facility, and performing a variety
of library related duties. Qualified applicants will possess a bachelor’s degree in elementary
education, English, computer science or a degree that is closely related to library work and 2 years
of experience performing technical library work such as circulation and collection maintenance,
or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A master’s degree in librarianship from
a program accredited by the American Library Association or a master’s degree with a specialty in
school library media from an educational unit accredited by the National Council for the
Accreditation of Teacher Education can be substituted for the 2 years of experience. Employees
