The University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine (COM) Health Sciences Library is seeking well-qualified candidates for a Library Technical Assistant III. The Technical Assistant III position is a critical role within the Health Sciences Library in supporting students, staff, and faculty users. This position is responsible for managing the library’s resources, including the medical student iPad program, which is integrated into the College of Medicine curriculum. This position will manage and provide support for library resources that are used in the curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the library technology resources at the Health Sciences Library including budgeting, inventory, circulation, tracking of library items, and internal usage reporting.
- Manage and track procurement of library resources.
- Manage the collection development process for the library technology resources, including cataloging, preparing resources for circulation, and removing and managing surplus resources in accordance with the Health Sciences Library’s collection development policies.
- Execute the medical student iPads program, including deployment of iPads and management of the apps and accessories.
- Manage the front desk during a regularly assigned shift. Provide basic reference services to the library patrons including answering questions on the use of library resources, equipment, and apps from library users in person, via email, or phone. Discharge books and materials using the Alma circulation system and re-shelve material. Maintain the library space. Instruct users on library technology and apps in a variety of settings.
- Other duties as assigned including the timely completion of university and college required training and updates.
