The University of Minnesota Libraries invites applications for two collaborative and service-oriented Medical School Liaison Librarians (UL447) to join a team of librarians who work to advance the teaching, learning, and research initiatives of the University of Minnesota Medical School. We are welcoming both experienced librarians, and those who are new to the field, with an opportunity for on-the-job training and mentorship in health sciences librarianship.
The successful candidates will bring a strong interest in growing as a health sciences librarian and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development in this dynamic specialization. They will serve as a key member of the Health Sciences Libraries (http://hsl.lib.umn.edu) Education and Research Services team, reporting to the HSL Associate Director. The Medical School Liaison Librarians will be two of three liaisons assigned to the Medical School (http://www.med.umn.edu) and will work closely with colleagues in HSL and across the University Libraries system.
Responsibilities of the Medical School Liaison:

Actively engage with a diverse community of faculty, administrators, clinicians, and students in assigned departments to understand their teaching, learning, and research needs, and identify ways in which the libraries can meet those needs.

Develop and teach course-integrated instruction sessions and stand-alone workshops, integrating evidence-based practice, health literacy, and new technologies into the learning environment. Classroom teaching includes for-credit classes, such as Family Medicine Clerkship 7600, a required clerkship course for all 3rd-year medical students.

Provide consultation services for affiliated faculty, staff, and students that support their teaching, learning, and research needs.

Provide training and support for the research lifecycle, including compliance with NIH and other federal funding policies and tools (e.g., My NCBI, My Bibliography, and SciENcv).

Collaborate with researchers to develop effective strategies that support open science and research reproducibility, including data management and open access publishing.

Collaborate with library colleagues to develop and offer research services, including systematic reviews and research impact reports.

Provide leadership for and contribute to Libraries-wide projects and initiatives.

Contribute to the knowledge base of the profession through research, publication, and professional engagement.
Required Qualifications:

American Library Association accredited Master’s degree in Library/Information Science OR equivalent combination of advanced degree and relevant experience.

Understanding of current trends in academic libraries and higher education, including teaching, learning, and research trends in the health sciences.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Ability to take initiative, develop and carry out projects, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Salary & Benefits: This is a full-time, 12-month, continuous appointment track academic professional position with probationary appointment at the Assistant Librarian rank with the potential for appointment at the Associate Librarian rank.
