The Stephen B. Thacker CDC Library is recruiting for an ORISE fellow. The position is in Atlanta, Georgia with telework eligibility. Thacker CDC library is located within CDC’s Office of Science (OS) which serves as the agency’s authority on scientific quality, integrity, and innovation. Note that although the announcement appears to be for a position in the broader Office of Science, this announcement also is being used to recruit for a position in the CDC Library.
Duties and Responsibilities
Depending on the fellow’s education and previous experience, duties and responsibilities will be selected amongst the following:
- Evaluating a pilot project to extend library access to state and local health departments
- Conducting literature searches and systematic reviews
- Developing and participating in library outreach events
- Creating library marketing and promotional materials
- Supporting CDC Library Advisory Board activities
- Assessing impact of CDC scholarly publications
- Determining implications of open access publishing on library access
- Analyzing library usage statistics
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate has an advanced degree in library/information science and experience in
- Conducting library searches
- Representing libraries in outreach events
- Analyzing library usage and other library-related data
And brings an enthusiasm for learning.
