Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for the daily operations of the Libraries’ evening peer-to-peer tutoring program, including managing a team of student tutors. This position also supports the Libraries’ instruction unit in developing instruction materials and pursuing instruction-related initiatives.
- Plans, implements, and coordinates the Libraries’ in-house tutoring program and manages all related certification documentation. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates OPS student tutors. Develops policies, procedures, and assessment practices for the program.
- Participates in instruction-related projects such as curriculum mapping, the development of a library instruction program, and the creation of asynchronous learning objects. Participates in other department and library-wide activities, services, and committees as needed.
- Collaborates with campus partners such as the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement, the Academic Center for Excellence, & the Reading-Writing Center to promote and ensure consistency across the University’s tutoring services and support undergraduate student success
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent six years or experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to be accurate, detailed oriented, highly organized and able to multitask and manage time with excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft office and other basic computer functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to learn and teach software and technology programs and skills.
- Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook, and basic computer functions.
Preferred
- Experience providing tutoring or instruction services
- Knowledge of the policies and practices of library services.
- Knowledge of web design and development.
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize audio and/or video recording, mastering and editing techniques.
- Proficient skills in multimedia and instructional course software.
- Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
