Position Description: Reporting to the Head of Reference and Instruction at Lane Library on the Armstrong campus, the person in this position teaches information literacy (and other associated digital literacies) skills, provides research consultations and chat reference service, and develops and initiates outreach and services focused on lower-division undergraduate students.
This entry-level position is a fiscal year (12 month), faculty-rank, tenure-track appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities
- Create and initiate outreach efforts focused on lower-division undergraduate students with a creative approach drawing on traditional and innovative practices.
- Assist in the promotion of undergraduate-focused programming and assessment in information literacy and the Reference and Instruction department.
- Plan, teach and assess information literacy classes both in-person and online, primarily targeted to students in English, and Writing and Linguistics departments, and other areas as assigned.
- Participate in the evaluation of the instruction program and outcome assessment of instruction sessions.
- Collaborate with faculty and other academic professionals in planning, implementing, teaching, and assessing information literacy programming generally and in assigned liaison areas.
- Provide quality reference services to library patrons via in-person and/or virtual reference services, including research consultations.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of various instructional and promotional materials, including tutorials, social media, and other innovative tools.
- Participate in an active liaison program by communicating and developing relationships with faculty in assigned departments.
- Participate in collection development for general collection materials and assigned liaison subject areas.
- Demonstrate ability to conduct scholarship, teaching, and service as part of tenure-track responsibilities.
