User Experience and Instruction Librarian – Faculty Position @ Florida Tech’s Evans Library

This position is an excellent opportunity for entry-level librarians interested in academic librarianship.

Florida Tech’s Evans Library seeks a motivated, outgoing and curious individual to provide library instruction and reference services in traditional and innovative platforms to students and faculty. This full-time, non-tenure-track, Library faculty position is one member of a collegial team of library faculty and staff who provide information assistance to individuals and groups of library users.

The User Experience and Instruction Librarian facilitates the discovery and instruction of library resources and services to support teaching, learning and research for the greater campus community. This position provides in-person, virtual, synchronous and asynchronous consultations and instruction in the Library, in the classroom and via the university’s learning management system. The Librarian will act as a liaison to a dedicated college or school to provide subject area-specific consultations, reference and instruction as well as administer Interlibrary Loan services delivering and lending documents and print materials utilizing Library software.

Duties:

  •   Supports campus community in locating, evaluating and using information effectively to further academic, research and curriculum learning outcomes.
  •   Provides excellent customer service and user experience to students, faculty and staff both in- person and via chat and email. Reference coverage is on a scheduled basis that includes evening and weekend rotations.
  •   Provides in-person, virtual, synchronous and asynchronous consultations and group instruction sessions on Library resources and services including planning, scheduling, implementing and assessing.
  •   Serves as library liaison to assigned department including curating the collection and creating and maintaining Research Guides specific to liaison area.
  •   Administers Interlibrary Loan service providing research assistance and document delivery via Tipasa and OCLC Worldshare.
  •   Collaborates with library faculty and iDesk team for optimal front-line professional user experience.
  •   Performs various other duties as needed for the successful operation of Evans Library including supervising students, iDesk coverage, etc.

Education: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution.
