POSITION DESCRIPTION:
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Desktop Operations Manager within the Bureau of Service Support and is responsible for providing systems administration and 2nd tier support within the Desk Operations team, which provides installation, implementation, maintenance and support of distributed computer systems, including: hardware, software, and communications components. This team supports the department’s desktops, laptops, mobile devices and related peripherals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES FOR THIS POSITION: • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment.
• Knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 8.
• Knowledge of desktop productivity applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of problem solving techniques.
• Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager.
• Knowledge of enterprise desktop deployment solutions.
• Knowledge of HP Service Manager.
• Knowledge of information security best practices.
• Ability to remotely troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents.
• Knowledge of Windows scripting techniques.
• Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts.
• Knowledge of Symantec Endpoint Protection in an enterprise environment.
• Ability to process information logically and solve problems.
• Ability to develop training programs related to distributed systems components.
• Teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.

NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants with:
• Skill in installing and administering Windows 7 and Windows 8.

SPECIAL NOTE: On call status is required for this position. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., although working on weekends may occasionally be required.
