WFSU-TV/The Florida Channel
The Florida Channel – located in Tallahassee, FL – produces 24/7, year-round coverage of all three branches of state government. Programming includes gavel-to-gavel coverage of a wide variety of state proceedings, along with a wide variety of documentary and public affairs programs and segments covering issues of interest and importance to all Floridians. The programming is delivered statewide by satellite and is also available on the Internet.
Responsibilities
Serves as Reporter for Capitol Update, other daily news programs and the half hour documentary series, Florida Crossroads. Duties include but are not limited to being proactive in researching, developing and following thru with ideas, writing clear and concise scripts on deadline, interviewing individuals (for on-air or background use) in a professional manner and compiling information for graphics or other visual elements used to effectively complete a program or program segment.
Serves as Backup Producer for Capitol Update and other weekly and daily news programs, duties include but are not limited to assisting Assignment Manager, News Director and Sr. Producer in researching and assigning stories, overseeing rundowns, reviewing information for content and accuracy, communicating with director and technical crews and effectively timing live newscasts.
Maintains records, archives program materials (scripts, video, research) transcribes recordings, develops documentation related to program production and/or broadcast techniques/formats unique to TFC; adheres to and implements generally accepted creative and technical principles of broadcast production, along with procedures and principles established by TFC for legislative and public affairs program production.
Provides production and administrative support including but not limited to researching information to be used in TFC programs and distributing program topics to relevant media weekly. Some travel is required and ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in a related area and a minimum of two years of appropriate experience in a professional broadcast environment.
Proof of a valid FL Class E or GA driver’s license or the ability to obtain license upon hire.

On-camera experience.
Attention to detail; effective time-management and organizational skills.
The ability to work as part of a team on tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with fast-changing situations are necessary.

Preferred
Familiarity with Florida Government.

Anticipated Salary Range
Anticipated hiring range is between high-$20,000’s and mid – $30,000’s annually
*dependent on education and experience.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm; however, hours will vary and may include weekends and evenings. Flexibility is required.
