Sr. Information Systems Programmer/Analyst

Systems Administrator/Microsoft Technologies
General Summary:
The Florida Legislature is seeking an Information Systems Administrator in the Office of Legislative Information Technology Services which provides IT services to the Legislature.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Interacts directly with customers during problem-solving situations.
- Organizes and maintains accurate written documentation and records.
- Codes and debugs new or existing systems.
- Prepares related correspondence.
- Conducts system testing.
- Trains other programmer/analysts.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Microsoft OS based servers and associated software.
- Manage and maintain virtualization infrastruture servers and associated software.
- Lead in architecting, implementing, and supporting multiple Microsoft-based infrastructure service technologies such as MS Exchange, Sharepoint, SQL Server, Active Directory, IIS, File and Print.
- Lead in installation, configuration and operation of Microsoft Windows 2003/2008 Server systems. Utilize SAN based storage infrastructure.
- Utilize monitoring and management systems for ensuring proactive server and system management. Familiarity with MS System Center products a plus.
- Analyze system data to assist in performance management, pro-active problem management and capacity planning.
- Evaluate software and hardware problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Stay abreast of new and evolving technologies and make recommendations for productivity and operational improvements.

- Ability to communicate technical information systems information effectively, verbally, and in writing.
- Ability to produce quality work under pressure.
- Ability to deal tactfully with the demands of the customers of the Office of Legislative Information Technology Services.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple concurrent work assignments.
- Ability to conduct in-depth and carefully documented analysis under minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and understand technical information systems publications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and two years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
- Progressively responsible information systems experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
- Any combination of progressively responsible information systems or server administration experience and post secondary training in disciplines as described above totaling six years.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated proficiencies in the following areas:
- 3 years of demonstrated proficiency in Windows 2003/2008 system administration MCSE/MCITP certification.
- Experience with Active Directory, IIS, SharePoint, and Microsoft web presentation technologies.
- Experience with supporting Dot-Net web development, ASP, ColdFusion, SharePoint, scripting.
- Solid technical understanding of information technology redundancy and failover best practices such as hardware load balancing, clustering. Cisco content switching knowledge a plus.
- Ability to assimilate information, develop plans and recommend processes and procedures.
- Experience with Hyper-V or VMware a plus.
- Experience with HP based rack-based and blade-servers and HP storage hardware a plus.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Salary:
Pay Grade 10: $43,548 – $93,252
Anticipated hiring range: $60,000 – $65,000
Salary is negotiable within the range.
