MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent diploma. Previous library experience, experience in a post-secondary educational environment, customer service experience especially on a service desk, and technology skills are preferred.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING: Knowledge of good customer service practices such as greeting and directing visitors, phone etiquette, and other effective interpersonal skills. Proficiency in computer skills such as email, Microsoft Office software, internet searching, and the ability to troubleshoot various hardware including printing. Ability to show discretion and good judgment in handling confidential matters. Ability to master shelving using the Library of Congress Classification system. Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, sometimes under busy conditions. Ability to demonstrate effective verbal and written interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
