Web Designer/Graphics Assistant
The DSA Marketing Office offers a position for a web designer/graphics assistant working towards a degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Studio Art, Media Production, Media/Communication Studies, Marketing, Advertising, Information Technology, etc.).
The web designer/graphics assistant will work with the electronic media team to communicate the mission and market the services and programs of the Departments of Student Affairs through the use of web and media technologies. The candidate should be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop and Illustrator or open source equivalents GIMP/Inkscape) for creating digital graphics and website/application mock-ups, editing HTML and CSS by hand using a text editor/html editor and creating content for social media (Facebook & Twitter, etc.). The candidate should take an interest in learning and applying new creative web based technologies. Some of the tasks and expectations of the web designer/graphics assistant include, but are not limited to the following:
- The web designer/graphics assistant will work under the direction and supervision of the electronic media team in a webmaster role to maintain the web sites of the Division of Student Affairs.
- Creates graphic content for websites and social media campaigns and accounts. Create web design mock-ups and wireframes for websites and web applications.
- Assist with managing departmental events on university calendaring system.
- Collect content from the various projects and programs of the Division of Student Affairs to be included on their respective websites. Help develop and maintain content for DSA’s web presence.
- Assist with developing social media marketing campaigns and information resources, and methods for integrating social media on of the Division of Student Affairs’ websites.
- Capture and edit photographs and video for use on social media and websites.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Follow instructions; adhere to FSU policy guidelines concerning information technology, privacy and security.
Applicants should be comfortable working with Macintosh and PC computers. The web designer/graphics assistant must be able to interact and communicate well with other students and represent the department to campus and non-campus groups effectively.
The position is 10-15 hours weekly with an hourly wage of $7.93.
