Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate area and six years relevant experience or a combination of relevant post high school education and/or experience equal to ten years.
- Experience with developing, implementing, and supporting data acquisition & integration (ETL) processes in IBM Information Server 8.x on Windows and Unix-based platforms.
- Experience with leading development, implementation, and support of a data warehouse environment.
- Strong understanding and functional knowledge of Business Intelligence applications and the value that it delivers to an organization.
- Working knowledge of data analysis techniques and methodology.
- Working knowledge of standard program languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field to include but not limited to Data warehousing, Data Integration, SQL programming, and Oracle Performance tuning.
- Experience working successfully in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience evaluating process effectiveness and developing change or alternatives.
- Experience conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Ability to interpret and apply University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
- Ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.

Preferred
- Experience developing and implementing data warehouses based on the Kimball Methodology
- Experience with implementing and deploying packaged based solutions such as PeopleSoft EPM 9.X Warehouse solution or SAP BW
- Experience with SQL development and tuning of the Oracle DB platform
- Experience with PeopleSoft Financial, HR, and/or Campus Solutions systems
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Responsibilities
- This is a senior level position within ITS. As a systems architect, this position is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, and supporting the complex Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence systems.
- Supports the University’s BI reporting and information needs. Designs, develops, analyze, and supports data layer objects, ETL processes, and BI reporting objects in alignment with functional and technical system requirements. This position provides advanced technical development and maintenance support across the entire BI/DW suite.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving BI/DW system issues as well as tuning the systems and resulting queries for improved performance. Application of system and vendor supplied application patches.
- Responsible for designing, developing, managing, and updating data models, including conceptual logical and physical models of the data warehouse, data mart, and staging areas.
- Responsible for attaining in depth knowledge of source system data and gathering data requirements needed for new analytic applications. Responsible for creation/maintenance of documentation pertaining to BI and data warehouse solutions.
- Responsible for assisting in developing, planning, and organizing procedures and testing scenarios to ensure the integrity of the BI system. Provides suggestions for improvements/enhancements to the existing system.
- Performs other duties as required.
