Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and four years relevant experience or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to eight years.
  • Experience providing technical support for Windows XP and Windows 7 workstations as well as printers, smart phones and mobile computers.
  • Experience managing user accounts and security groups within Active Directory.
  • Experience with Windows server administration.
  • Basic Understanding and functional knowledge of basic networking concepts.
  • Experience working successfully in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience conveying technical information to technical and non-technical users.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience prioritizing, organizing, and independently performing multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Experience documenting processes and systems.

Background Check Requirements
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check to include fingerprinting.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Dual Reporting: FSUPD and ITS-ITAPP [Information Technology Administration Partnership Program] partnership to deliver information technology services for the FSU Police Department. Reports to ITS to consolidate services, leveraging centrally funded/managed systems and personnel.
  • Manages all workstations, printers, smartphones, mobile data terminals, and server systems such as Spillman records management, FDLE/Florida Criminal justice Network administration, web services, and other unique emergency dispatch and records management applications. Administers NetMotion VPN system, RLEX proxy server, mobile ticket writers, CrimeReports data transfer computer, and computing systems related to in-car camera devices.
  • Position is expected to leverage existing IT systems and services that are managed by ITS [Information Technology Services] such as virtualization technologies, Active Directory, SharePoint, EZpublish CMS, network management, e-mail, and file storage. Will collaborate with ITS Computing Technology Services to develop workstation support processes and procedures.
  • Supports a mission critical computer aided dispatch (CAD) system which requires additional training and FDLE certification during first six months of employment. Provide limited support for the PowerDMS hosted compliance tracking solution.
  • Point of contact and advisor to other IT Systems administrators working with within FSU. Requires close work with systems administrators from other law enforcement agencies.
  • FSUPD operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Occasional on-call support is required during nights, weekends, sports events, and special events that require law enforcement personnel.
  • Interprets connectivity, security, and accessibility procedures of external law enforcement agencies with regard to FSU Police Department gaining access to their systems. Coordinates dissemination of IT security information within the department.
