Tallahassee, FL, September 20, 2006 – John Carlo Bertot, Florida State University College of Information professor and associate director of its Information Use Management and Policy Institute, was interviewed on National Public Radio (NPR) yesterday about the role of libraries in disasters.
Bertot was lead author of “Public access computing and Internet access in public libraries: The role of public libraries in e-government and emergency situations.” The article presented findings from the “2006 Public Libraries and the Internet” study conducted by the Information Institute and funded by the American Library Association and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The study, directed by Drs. Bertot, Charles R. McClure, and Paul T. Jaeger, explored issues regarding public library Internet connectivity, use, and services.
Bertot was interviewed on the NPR program Future Tense titled “Internet a basic need after disasters” (September 19, 2006; available at http://www.publicradio.org/columns/futuretense/). He serves as editor of Government Information Quarterly and co-editor of Library Quarterly.
