POSITION TITLE: COORDINATOR, LIBRARY RESEARCH POSITION #: P99995
MAJOR DUTIES OF POSITION: The position of Coordinator, Library Research is a professional
level job providing reference services to library users, on campus or at distance learning sites. The
Coordinator, Library Research also provides individual library instruction to students and other users.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) from an American
Library Association accredited school.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of library access services, including
reference and circulation. Knowledge of electronic and print resources and information retrieval
methods. Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and students. Excellent oral and written
communication skills. Mastery of library systems, technology, and software applications.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of experience in a library setting preferred. Knowledge
and experience with web page maintenance and design preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provides assistance to library users in finding information, online through electronic databases
or through traditional, print resources.
• Assists library staff at the circulation desk, as needed.
• Responds to reference requests from distance learners, by phone, letter, or e-mail.
• Staffs the statewide Ask-A-Librarian program.
• Organizes student library orientations and conducts classroom instruction regarding library
services, research skills, and information literacy.
• Consults with faculty on orientation and classroom assignments and copyright issues.
• Assists the Director of the Library with collection development and liaisons with college faculty
and others on collection enhancements.
• Maintains the FGC Library webpage and social media.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of library public services, including reference skills and circulation
practices. Knowledge of text resources and online resources, as well as library
computer applications. This position requires good communication skills for
the negotiation of reference questions and provision of individual, library
instruction.
SALARY: $39,375 annually plus benefits
