FSU Communication alumnus, Ian Malone (B.A., ‘99), published his first novel, Mako.  It is one of three titles planned for a science fiction trilogy.  The story is about a history professor and his group of college friends from FSU who reconnect by playing an online game by the name of MAKO.

Malone’s novel was released in February 2013 and published by Sharkflight Media, his own publishing company created for the task.  Part of the proceeds from book sales will go towards charities that support the blind, struggling single parents, and literacy in children.

Malone provides the following advice to students about to graduate: “Keep your options open and get as much experience as you can.  Doing these things expands your experience portfolio, while also giving you a first class way to network, both of which are priceless in this day and time for job hunting.”
