Thomson Gale VP to Discuss Evolution of Reference Publishing

The FSU College of Information is presenting Helen L. Wilbur, Vice President of Consortia Sales and Marketing for Thomson Gale, who will deliver a special lecture entitled “Off the Shelf – Encyclopedias to E-Books: Thomson Gale and the Evolution of Reference Publishing” on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005.

Over 50 years ago, Gale Research began publishing the Encyclopedia of Associations as a marketing tool for business. Today, as Thomson Gale, it is the world’s largest reference publisher, offering over 6,000 reference titles in print, 100 online databases, as well as microfilm, large print, and digital collections. Helen L. Wilbur is on the Board of Advisors of the FSU College of Information. Her lecture will include a discussion of Thomson Gale today, its businesses, customers, people and the future of reference publishing.

The lecture will take place from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24 in the Broad Auditorium of the Claude Pepper Center, 636 West Call Street, FSU Campus. The Pepper Center is visible in the center of this map (designated by the words “PCB” and “Pepper”).
