Six FSU graduate students wrote an article published in the January 2007 issue of Library Media Connection, a professional journal for school library media specialists. “Today’s School Library Media Specialist Leader” was composed by Dianne Dees, Kristi Alexander, Rachel Besara, Theresa Kent, Robb Cambiosis, and Jody Player Delgado of the College of Information.
The piece came about when Dr. Nancy Everhart, a member of the Linworth Publishing Advisory Board, was asked for help in getting together a leadership article. Linworth publishes Library Media Connection, as well as a variety of books for media specialists. Dr. Everhart proposed that students enrolled in our Leadership in Technology course write the article and picked six of them that she felt were up for the challenge.
There is a sidebar to the article that describes one of our grant programs, Project LEAD. Project LEAD is training school media specialists to become leaders in the field. Both Rachel and Theresa are students in Project LEAD.
