Position: Data Team Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Data Strategy and Operations
Job Summary
The Data Team Coordinator (Coordinator) supports all functions of Thread’s data operations
including collection, management, reporting and user support. The Coordinator will report to the
Director of Data Strategy and Operations and will also work closely with the Salesforce
Database Manager (DM). The Coordinator will work on projects to track the growth and
strength of our community of over 400 students, over 1000 volunteers, and thousands of
collaborators and prospective volunteers as we scale to 3000 volunteers and 1000 students in
the next three years.
As a highly data-motivated organization, staff is held accountable to over 250 metrics reported
in Scorecards. The Coordinator will serve as the owner of these Scorecards. The Coordinator
will work closely with staff to ensure they understand how their activity impacts their metrics;
develop ad hoc reports in Salesforce to facilitate operational understanding; conduct deep
analysis to support decision making at the direction of the Director of Data Strategy and
Operations; develop custom tools in FormAssembly, Google Sheets, and other software to
enable seamless data entry by staff and volunteers. In this capacity, the Coordinator will work
on systems including, but not limited to, volunteer recruitment, volunteer management,
academic data, fundraising and resource recruitment, performance management, and email
marketing.
Key Responsibilities
Data Reporting
● Develop custom reports and dashboards including but not limited to grants, reports,
press, volunteers.
● Provide insights about high school academic data and support the sharing of the data
with volunteers.
● Support quarterly Board of Directors reporting process and All-Staff deck preparation by
performing ad hoc analysis and building charts that provide clear insights.
● Develop and enforce clear organization system for report folders in Salesforce.
● Make minor adjustments to data structures to facilitate additional reporting abilities.
● Prepare Team and Individual Scorecards.
● Coordinate with external contacts at BCPS to ensure timely and accurate receipt of
academic data.
Technical Support
● Act as primary point of contact for volunteers and staff via Zendesk. Deliver timely
responses and drive to quick identification and resolution of issues.
● Support end users in completing data tasks within their roles – e.g., data entry, simple
analysis, etc.
● Follow up with data owners when data is identified as missing or incorrectly entered and
provide ad hoc training to ensure users are familiar with the system.
● Review all reports for quarterly reporting to ensure data is complete as expected, follow
up with data owners in advance of reporting deadline.
● Maintain G-Suite automations (e.i. Thread email creation, Google group management,
and email suspension)
Backend Administration
● Maintain process for updating Team and Individual Scorecards.
● Build data collection tools to integrate with Salesforce database in Google sheets and
FormAssembly.
● Process data for upload into Salesforce and other systems. Perform data
imports/updates using data loader tools.
● Perform unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing of new application
functionality. Analyze and mitigate issues identified during testing.
● Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills
● Bachelor’s degree with excellent / robust technical / technology skills
● Expertise with spreadsheet analysis required (Excel/Google Sheets, Sheets preferred) –
e.g. vlookup, importrange, conditionals, pivot tables, charts. Additional data analysis
skills strongly desired.
● Experience with Salesforce preferred; other database experience and the ability, drive
and desire to become an expert in Salesforce at the administrator level is required.
● Excellent project management, coordination and backwards planning skills
● Proactive problem solver – must be motivated to understand the ecosystem behind a
request in order to provide the best solution.
● Strong ability to communicate with non-technical audiences.
● Ability to organize complex tasks and prioritize multiple assignments

● Familiarity with, and experience building, reports and dashboards in Salesforce, but not
required
● Prior non-profit experience or knowledge preferred

● Javascript or HTML or Google scripting experience
● Experience in the use of a structured query language in a relational database
● Strong data management skills and comfort with statistical analyses
● 1 to 2 years of experience in data collection and designing and building databases
