The primary functions of all professional librarian positions are to teach patrons how to research using the library print and online resources, including assessing patron needs, determining the best information to meet those needs, searching for and instructing patrons to find and acquire accurate information; to serve faculty departments in a liaison role for information literacy instruction and collection development; and to supervise the operations of the library during evening or weekend shifts.
Professional development opportunities will be provided for this librarian to support the divisions of health sciences, natural sciences, and business and technology.
Minimum salary $44,216
Provide virtual and in-person instructional sessions, consultations, and workshops to facilitate information literacy for students
Maintain regular contact with faculty and division heads in assigned liaison areas
Assist department chairs, coordinators, and faculty with internal reviews, accreditation visits, reports, or other institutional reviews
Recommend purchase and selective withdrawal of materials for assigned areas consistent with the Library Collection Development Policy
Create and maintain library guides and LMS modules related to assigned liaison areas
Assist patrons in using library classification schemes, the library discovery interface, electronic databases, and other resources face to face or via telephone, email, or chat during assigned hours
Supervise library operations during evening and weekend shifts including resolving patron account issues, supervising the work of student assistants, troubleshooting minor computer and equipment issues, and opening and closing the building including monitoring the cash register
Participate in college-wide action teams and other activities, particularly related to liaison areas
Serve on statewide and national committees as needed.
