Coordinator of Alumni Engagement, Volunteer Engagement @ FSU Alumni Association

Responsibilities

  • The Coordinator of Volunteer Engagement plays a vital role in mobilizing and managing volunteers to support the University’s mission. This position will implement strategies to recruit, train, and retain volunteers effectively. The coordinator will develop programs and activities that engage volunteers and will be the liaison to three key affinity groups. The Coordinator will inspire and motivate volunteers towards achieving shared objectives.
  • Responsible for managing up to three alumni networks including direct oversight of the Emeriti Alumni Society and FSU National Black Alumni.
  • Develops strategies for meaningful engagement and managing the day to day needs for assigned networks, and a potential new alumni network that will be created based on the growing needs of our alumni base.
  • Implement overall alumni engagement strategies, priorities, and goals that include alumni leadership, comprehensive planning, and meetings.
  • Monitor and analyze volunteer trends, making recommendations to improve volunteer engagement strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer leadership in CRM.
  • Research and propose platforms to modernize and streamline the application process for volunteer positions and track volunteer hours efficiently.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Volunteer Engagement to develop and implement volunteer stewardship strategies including initiatives for national volunteer recognition month, philanthropy day, FSU’s Great Give, Admissions, and best practices in volunteer management.
  • Lead Emeriti Alumni Society Homecoming Reunion planning efforts in collaboration with University Advancement Events staff and coordinate the reunion outreach committee.
  • Coordinate and organize the regional Emeriti Luncheon series each year including making recommendations on locations based on alumni data, organizing keynote speakers, collaborating with the events team on logistics, creating a budget, and measuring the success of our outreach.
  • Responsible for attending assigned networks’ meetings and events. Some of these will occur after hours during the week and on weekends. Manages a volunteer handbook, including resources, financial guidelines, communication resources and engagement methods.
  • Provide direct event support or guidance as needed and dictated by level of engagement; leverage engagement to identify emerging leaders and a pipeline for deeper engagement with FSU.
  • Works closely with the Associate Director of Volunteer Engagement to create a first-generation alumni network.
  • Enhance virtual engagement opportunities for all networks and alumni through avenues included but not limited to the virtual alumni book club, webinars, on-demand learning, panel discussions, etc. while working to surface new methods and opportunities to expand the Alumni Association’s virtual engagement portfolio.
  • Responsible for creating a budget for assigned alumni networks based on best practices and data informed engagement strategies, managing budget financial documents for each initiative, and ensuring we are operating within budget.
  • Builds relationships with colleagues across campus and at peer institutions.
  • Provide on-site assistance at events, working evenings and weekends as necessary; some travel may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
