OPS Network Support Specialist @ Justice Administrative Commission

The Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) is a small customer-service oriented state agency that administratively serves Florida’s State Attorneys, Public Defenders, Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsels, Capital Collateral Regional Counsels, and the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Program. Created by s. 43.16, F.S., JAC assists these judicial-related offices (JROs) to perform their functions through the State’s accounting, budget, financial services, and human resources platforms. JAC also reviews and processes bills from private court-appointed attorneys and associated due process services vendors (e.g., court reporters, interpreters, investigators, and expert witnesses) representing indigent individuals throughout Florida and ensures their compliance with Florida Statutes and JAC’s Contracts. JAC hires great people from a wide variety of backgrounds to develop comprehensive solutions for those we serve.

The Position

This is a temporary, part-time OPS position (~20 hours per week) working within a small but highly productive and collaborative IT section. JAC seeks a qualified person to fill a technical position that will, among other duties, serve as first-level helpdesk, field user support questions and service requests, assist in deployment of patches and updates to employee computers, troubleshoot and resolve software, hardware, printing and remote access problems, and assist with network health monitoring. Job duties include:

  • Install, deploy, support and troubleshoot Windows desktop OS
  • Support remote telework application environment (Citrix)
  • Support and troubleshoot printers, desktop/laptop hardware, and peripherals • Assist with maintaining and updating IT asset management and inventory system
  • Install, deploy, and support other office automation software such as Microsoft Office, Foxit PDF, Laserfiche (electronic document management system), 1st- and 3rd-party web applications, etc.
  • Warranty repairs on desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals
  • Assist with network closet and server room monitoring
  • Assist with network security event monitoring
  • Assist with desktop workstation lifecycle and long-term planning
  • Assist with cloud tenant maintenance • Assist with desktop OS standard imaging and deployment
  • Assist with mobile device support for ActiveSync and Citrix
  • Assist with user consulting to determine user needs and business requirements
  • Assist in the evaluation and selection of enterprise desktop software
  • Assist with maintaining IT infrastructure documentation
  • Perform other duties as required

Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment required for the position:

  • Knowledge of workstation aging and lifecycles
  • Desktop OS imaging and deployment; working knowledge of desktop OS permissions (Windows User Access Control) and interactions
  • Strong working knowledge of troubleshooting • Strong customer service skills, especially in a telework environment
  • Ability to use and recommend tools and resources as a means to provide excellent customer service and resolve technical issues
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and active listening skills to resolve technical issues
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the Information Technology (IT) field, specifically within assigned technical areas of responsibility
  • Skilled in software and hardware troubleshooting desktop/office automation apps, methods, and best practices
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
