iSchool professor Dr. Zhe He was invited to join the Editorial Board of the Journal of Biomedical Informatics (JBI) as an Editorial Board Member and Social Media Editor. JBI is the premier methodology journal in the field of biomedical informatics. Dr. He began his term in January 2025 and will serve for four years.
“Being selected as a board member is a recognition of my contributions to the field of biomedical informatics,” He said. “Personally, it feels rewarding to see my dedication to health informatics research acknowledged at this level. Professionally, this role aligns with my commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to the dissemination of high-quality research that shapes healthcare practices and policies.”
Dr. He has worked with JBI in many ways over the past decade, including publishing research articles and serving as a peer reviewer, which he says strengthened his relationship with the journal and fostered a deep appreciation for its standards and mission. “Working closely with JBI has also influenced my approach to research, emphasizing the importance of innovation, reproducibility, and real-world impact,” he reflected.
Under his new role, Dr. He will support initiatives to increase the journal’s visibility within the informatics community and work to enhance the quality of the published research through thoughtful and constructive peer review. He will be elevating manuscript submissions and developing strategies to engage the community with recent publications and highlight impactful studies through digital platforms.
“During my term, I aim to support JBI in maintaining its leadership as a top publication venue for innovative and impactful studies in biomedical informatics. I aspire to make JBI even more accessible and relevant to both researchers and practitioners. Ultimately, I hope to foster a collaborative environment where groundbreaking ideas are shared, discussed, and refined,” Dr. He shared.
He also expressed gratitude to JBI for this opportunity and excitement to contribute to JBI’s mission while working with fellow board members to advance the field of biomedical informatics.
