Public Relations (PR) Undergraduate Student Camille Hewitt was selected as the 2025 Dr. Jay Rayburn, APR, CPRC Student Scholarship Recipient on August 4 by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA).
The Dr. Jay Rayburn, APR, CPRC Scholarship attributes the work of the late Dr. Jay Rayburn, who devoted his career to advancing the PR field as a School of Communication faculty member. This scholarship, along with others offered by the FPRA, aims to support the professional development of rising seniors who demonstrate a strong interest in the PR profession.
“Being the 2025 Dr. Jay Rayburn, APR, CPRC Student Scholarship Recipient means carrying on the legacy of an amazing, impactful PR practitioner and FSU professor. I am honored to receive this scholarship in his name, and I hope to use it to learn and grow in public relations in a way that Dr. Rayburn would be proud of,” Hewitt said.
Hewitt joined the FPRA Student Capital Chapter as an FSU first-year student after discovering their work at the College of Communication and Information (CCI) involvement fair. Since joining the chapter, Hewitt has served as Networking Chair and will start as Secretary in Fall 2025.
“Since the moment I stepped foot in FPRA, I have felt welcomed and excited for the chance to connect and grow with my CCI peers. I can’t imagine where I would be without FPRA,” Hewitt said.
Beyond her work with the FPRA student chapter, Hewitt is also the PR Coordinator at Tara Angel’s Magic, Marketing Assistant at the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee, and is part of WVFS’s PR team.
Looking forward, Hewitt plans to take advantage of this scholarship by using it for opportunities like FPRA networking events, professional certifications, and practical skill development.
“I believe in the value of learning through doing, and I am excited to develop a deeper understanding of PR through practical experience alongside what I learn from books and classes,” Hewitt said.
