The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting the accounting department in maintaining accurate and timely financial records and reports for the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Updates and maintain commissions for all sales representatives and managers weekly.
- Records unearned revenue and balances weekly.
- Reviews service orders, commissions recorded and sales tax codes.
- Reviews and processes vendor invoices at times.
- Participate in quarterly and annual audits.
- Prepares assigned accounting records and reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
- Reconciles accounts in a timely manner.
- Enters and maintains transactions in accounting ledgers and internal databases on a daily basis.
- Functions in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws.
- Analyzes recorded transactions, documents, and information to correct errors and make required changes.
- Learns various accounting functions such as accounts payables and receivables to provide support for completing necessary tasks when needed.
- Performs various administrative duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or related field of study preferred; will consider relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Proven accounting experience; minimum of 5 years involving general accounting and bookkeeping functions including assisting in audits.
- Must have extensive experience and proficiency working with Excel.
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information secure and confidential.
- Generally adept in Microsoft Office, most notably Outlook.
- Extensive experiencing utilizing a common accounting software system and working knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices.
- Ability to perform all accounting and administrative tasks with speed and accuracy; attention to detail, a must.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, employees, and customers.
