Collection Development Librarian @ Ocmulgee Regional Library System, Georgia

Ocmulgee Regional Library System serves 7 counties in middle Georgia. Our mission is to connect the community to resources, technology, and each other. Purpose:

This position is responsible for ordering, receiving, processing, and cataloging materials for member libraries. The ideal candidate is well-organized, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence. We seek an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible individual who proactively searches for opportunities to deliver quality library services that engage the community and exceed expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Performs complex original and copy cataloging of library materials according to current standards and rules to ensure that library patrons and staff can locate materials efficiently.
  • Determines appropriate treatments for series or multipart items.
  • Responds to cataloging-related inquiries or problems.
  • Assists branch managers and regional staff in the selection of materials for a diverse collection.
  • Facilitates library acquisitions, including ordering materials and reporting missing or damaged items to the appropriate vendor.
  • Receives and checks in all physical materials.
  • Processes materials to be shelf-ready.
  • Manages interlibrary loan transactions as needed.
  • Coordinates the biennial inventory of library materials.
  • Attends continuing education sessions/events to remain current in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.
