Celebrating Strength, Skill, and Character, CCI Alumna Marion Taormina Hargett named a Grad Made Good

marionhargettEach year, Florida State University’s Alumni Association honors former students of our university with their “Grads Made Good” award. More than 100 graduates of FSU have been honored for making a significant difference in their fields, embodying the Unconquered spirit that so characterizes being a student at Florida State. For CCI alumna Marion Taormina Hargett, that spirit has defined a successful career in media and a persistent commitment to her community in Tallahassee.

As a student, her engagement in the FSU experience made a lasting impression with the venerable Professor Mark Zeigler, “She had a zest for Florida State University and life, a tremendous love and devotion to her family, and an instinct for communication that cannot be taught.” Hargett graduated from the College of Communication and Information in 1993 with a Bachelor’s in Communication and Education.

FSU has never been far away from Hargett as she advanced in her career in the media and entertainment industry, her professional growth and service to the FSU community grew exponentially as time passed. Marion has been an Alumni Association member, Seminole Booster member, and president of her local Seminole Club. Before her current position on the Alumni Association’s Board, she also served on the Student Affairs Torchbearer Board as a director.

With over twenty years of experience in her industry, Hargett now serves as the Senior Vice President of Olympics and Sports Sales for NBC Owned Television Stations. She leads a team that sells all of NBC and Telemundo’s premier sports offerings, including the FIFA World Cup, NFL, NHL, and of course the Olympics.

Many Grads Made Good feel the award reconnects them with FSU after spending time away, especially given that the ceremony is held during Homecoming Week, but for Hargett that connection has never ceased. “Of the many features that distinguish Marion, she would not just be coming back to campus for this award,” says VP of Student Affairs Mary Coburn, “To have the type of career and family commitments that she has, but still serve as an active member of the Alumni Association Board, is a testament to her love for FSU.”
