Convocation: Distinguished Lecturer; Honored Alumni, Faculty, & Students

This Saturday, Oct. 29, at the 2005 Convocation & Award Ceremony, Daniel Callison, Executive Associate Dean of the School of Library and Information Science, Indiana University, will present the Srygley Lecture entitled “The Student Information Scientist: An Analogy for Future Information Inquiry Environments.” Callison is founding editor of School Library Media Research journal. The Convocation & Award Ceremony runs from 10-11:00 a.m., following the College’s Annual Breakfast (9:00 a.m.).

During the ceremonies the College of Information will recognize Laurence Miller as our 2005 Distinguished Alumnus. Miller, who holds three degrees from the College (Ph.D., 1971; Adv. M.S., 1970; M.S. 1963), has been Executive Director of University Libraries at Florida International University since 1981 (retired August, 2005).

As part of our homecoming celebration, we will also commemorate the attainment of Faculty Emeritus and Emeritus Dean status at Florida State University by retired dean Jane B. Robbins and the attainment of Faculty Emeritus status by retired professor Tom Hart. In addition we will recognize achievements by our students, faculty and staff.
