Florida State University Ph.D. recipient Plato Smith (’14, Ph.D. Information) has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 GreyNet Award. This award from GreyNet International seeks to acknowledge outstanding achievements in the field of grey literature, a field in library and information science that deals with production, distribution, and access to multiple document types where publishing is not the primary activity of the producing body, states the GreyNet website.
Smith graduated in 2014 with a doctorate in Information Science. During his studies, Smith worked as the department head for FSU’s Digital Library. Here he focused on building DigiNole, FSU’s digital content management system, as well as the electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) repository. Smith now works as the Data Management Librarian at the University of Florida. Read more about his achievements here.
