IT Alumnus Lands Tech Role in U.S. Army

Information Technology (IT) alumnus Andrew Mance has big plans after graduation.

After crossing the stage at Spring Commencement, Mance stepped into the role of Cyber Warfare Officer in the U.S. Army, where he will lead teams in defending critical networks, countering cyber threats, and launching digital offensives to protect national security.

“My IT degree has given me a strong foundation in technical problem-solving, system administration, and network security—all essential for a role in technical support and cybersecurity,” Mance said. “Courses like Network Fundamentals, Operating Systems and Services, and IT Project Management helped me develop both hands-on skills and a broader understanding of how systems interact in real-world environments.”

Mance is no stranger to the military, having served for three years in the U.S. Army Reserve. During that same period, Mance also worked as a technician here at the College of Communication & Information, assisting faculty and staff with many of their tech needs.

We thank Mance for his service to our country, and we are thrilled to share that he will remain a student in the College as he begins the Master’s in Information Technology (MSIT) program in Summer 2025.
