2014 B.S. Information Technology alumnus, J.P. Marshall, has adopted new responsibilities as Help Desk Coordinator at the College of Communication and Information (CCI) HelpDesk.
As Help Desk Coordinator, J.P. oversees and manages day-to-day IT support for the students, faculty and staff of Florida State University CCI. He works closely with the Information Professionals Team at the CCI HelpDesk and strives to resolve customer issues within the first hour of initial contact. The HelpDesk handles the complexities of both Apple and Windows operating systems–from system crashes, viruses, to frozen monitors, and software updates. Students and faculty can also contact the HelpDesk for accessibility into the FSU iSpace, where they can create and manage MySQL databases, form websites, and backup computer data.
If the problem goes beyond HelpDesk’s practice, J.P. and the HelpDesk team will promptly communicate the issue to the appropriate specialist and provide the expected turnaround time for the issue.
“I enjoy the social aspect of working at the HelpDesk and the challenges of Information Technology,” J.P. explains.
The CCI HelpDesk provides technical support to the CCI and FSU computing community 24 hours a day via the Online Support Ticket System. Telephone and walk-in support is offered during published business hours.
