Sarah Morris (B.S. ’22, M.S. ’23), a graduate of the Florida State University School of Communication (SCOM), recently had the opportunity to host FSU’s Ad Club on their annual New York networking trip after being a member of the Ad Club herself during her collegiate years. Sarah currently works as a Junior Account Manager at Gradient in New York City.
As a host, Morris informed students about her role and responsibilities at Gradient. Sarah states “As a Junior Account Manager, I am responsible for supporting the senior account management team in managing client accounts and executing successful experiential marketing campaigns.”
Morris explained how valuable her experience at FSU was to prepare her for her current role. “One particular class I took in grad school, Project Management, really taught me the Excel skills that I utilize almost every day,” she says.
Morris’ time at Gradient has allowed her to flourish and connect with a variety of individuals, which she identifies as her favorite part of working with Gradient. “Everyone who works at Gradient is incredibly talented, passionate, and driven,” says Morris. “Going to work every day and working with people who genuinely enjoy their work creates a positive energy in the workplace.”
The SCOM alum demonstrated the energy she receives at Gradient while hosting FSU’s Ad Club. “It was extremely rewarding and a full-circle moment for me to host Ad Club at Gradient in NYC. When I was a sophomore at FSU, I went on the Ad Club New York trip and it inspired me to want to work in the advertising/marketing field in New York City, and now I am!”
Her advice to current School of Communication students and Ad Club members who want to pursue a career in communications is to “Network, network, network! Reach out to people – they will most likely be willing to help! Everyone got their big break somewhere!”
