WISE Visits Atlanta Agencies

Women in IT/ICT Sharing Experiences (WISE) recently traveled to Atlanta, Ga., to visit with top advertising, information technology and strategy firms.

Six women made the trip to Atlanta, visiting with employees and CCI alumni at 22Squared, Chick-fil-A and State Farm. Students included Kelby Mahoney, Shelby Hobbs, Courtney Lisenbee, Hannah Brock, Chelsea Schneider and Megan McGilvray.

College of Communication & Information alumni at each agency gave tours to WISE.

Marissa Monivis (B.S. ICT ’14) is an Assistant Account Executive at 22squared.

“When I was amember of WISE, having a “big girl job” seemed worlds away. I’m just happy I was able to set up such an awesome opportunity for a group of amazing women. I felt that 22squared was a great way of showing them the creative and fun side of growing up,” said Monivis.

Jennifer Colman (B.S. IT ’15) is a Business Analyst at State Farm.

“The State Farm Systems department including myself were all excited to have some FSU students see a little of the work we do and the energetic atmosphere we work in,” shared Colman.

“When the young women in WISE at FSU visited State Farm, it was energizing to see the enthusiasm and interest shown as they interacted with Leadership and Analysts, including myself while learning more about our IT department,” said Melissa Osborne, Workforce Business Analyst.

Rachel Skibicki (B.S. ICT ’14) is an Application Delivery Associate at Chick-fil-A.

“At Chick-fil-A corporate the people I am surround with every day are not ordinary, they are all leaders, brilliant minds, and kind hearts.  Being able introduce these exceptional coworkers as networking contacts and share the culture of our company and encourage the women of WISE as they work towards their futures meant giving back to a school and organization that gave me so much during my time at FSU, and ultimately helped lead me to where I am today,” said Skibicki.

WISE focuses on promoting women in technology through mentorship and real world experience. Last Fall, WISE met with local business owner Nadia Kamal at Onyx Creates to talk about the importance of work-life balance. During Spring ’15, WISE helped organize the Women in Leadership Conference which brought together women in different disciplines for panel discussion and mentorship talks.
