Michael B. Holmes will be presenting and sharing career-related advice this Tuesday, April 8, at 5:15 p.m. in the Shores Building, Room 006. The presentation will take place during the class time of Florida State University School of Information Assistant Professor, Dr. Mark Jowett, who extended the invitation to any other students who would like to attend.
Currently, Holmes is the a Primary Patent Examiner in the field of Artificial Intelligence at the United States Patent and Trademark Office located in Alexandria, Virginia. He has been working in the field of computer science and information technology for almost 30 years.
Holmes launched his career with Lockheed/Martin Marietta in Cupertino, California in the Space Systems Division and Astronautical Systems Division. Next, in Arizona, he was employed at companies including America Express with their Corporate Card Division, MicroAge Electronics, and Motorola’s Micro Electronics Division, Sector Sim Data Warehouse.
Holmes studied Computer & Information Science and Mathematics at the University of California Berkeley and University of California Santa Cruz. He also attended Arizona State University and George Washington University. His primary course work was focused on computer science (software and hardware), mathematics, physics and English.
