This Wednesday, March 20, Florida State University’s first-ever scholarly communication librarian, Micah Vandegrift, presents “Scholarly Communications and Open Access at FSU—Balancing Research and Practice,” 3-4 p.m., Room 206, Louis Shores Building, FSU campus, followed by a reception from 4-5 p.m.
Remote viewers will be able to attend by joining an online Blackboard Collaborate session that will be recorded for future viewing (see below).
Vandegrift graduated with an MLIS from FSU’s School of Library and Information Studies (2011). He was a founding member of the blog Hack Library School, serves on the editorial board of the journal “In The Library with the Lead Pipe” and blogs regularly about scholarly communication and digital humanities.
At FSU, he oversees the development of open access initiatives and manages DigiNole Commons, a virtual repository for electronic scholarship. He works closely with faculty, examining the changing landscape of scholarly publishing and working to position FSU as research evolves toward a digital future. He is FSU’s liaison to the Library Publishing Coalition and the Coalition of Open Access Policy Institutions, where he serves on the Coordinating Committee
