College Welcomes Five Tenure-Track Faculty

August 21, 2006 – Tallahassee, FL – FSU College of Information is proud to welcome five new tenure-track faculty members this fall to support the expansion of its School Media Specialist Program and its new Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Degree Program:

Dr. Sabah Currim, Assistant Professor, holds both a Ph.D. in Management and an M.S. in Management Information Systems from the Eller College of Management, University of Arizona, Tucson. She earned a B.E. in Electronics from the University of Mumbai, Mumbai, India. Her research and teaching interests include data management, human factors, electronic commerce, systems analysis and design, and telecommunications.

Dr. Lorri Mon, Assistant Professor, received a Ph.D. in Information Science from the Information School at the University of Washington and an M.S. in Information and Library Science from the University of Michigan. Her scholarly interests and activities combine topics in library and information science and computer-mediated communication in the areas of reference and information services, online intermediation, digital libraries, e-government, and evaluation of information services.

Dr. Terrance S. Newell, Assistant Professor, received his Ph.D. in Library and Information Studies with a minor in Instructional Systems Technology from the School of Library & Information Studies at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his M.S. in Library and Information Science with a concentration in School Library Media Services from University of Southern Mississippi. His areas of research interest include: mediation of k-12 information literacy learning using technology, visual information studies, and social change roles of information institutions and systems.

Dr. Ebrahim Randeree, Assistant Professor, earned both a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems and an M.B.A. with concentrations in health systems management and M.I.S. at the University at Buffalo, SUNY. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. His areas of research interest are outsourcing, information assurance, strategic information technology, and knowledge management with a focus on the health care arena. His teaching interests are in strategic management, medical informatics, and information technology.

Dr. Besiki Stvilia, Assistant Professor, comes to us from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he earned both his Ph.D. and his M.S. in Library and Information Science. He also holds an M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Tbilisi State University, Georgia (the Republic). His research interests are: information quality, metadata quality, knowledge management, recommended systems, digital libraries, information integration, and social informatics.
