The School of Information at Florida State University has named Dr. Lorri Mon as its new director.
Dr. Mon has been a part of FSU’s iSchool since 2006. She has taught and researched in online information services and emerging technologies, including social media, digital reference, virtual worlds, and e-government. As an advocate for libraries, Dr. Mon was involved in the iMapLibraries project on the Miami Dade libraries during their 2013 funding crisis. She is also involved with the iSchool’s Collaboratory which provides experiential learning with new technologies including 3D printing, 3D modeling and more.
“We’re very excited to have Dr. Mon as the iSchool’s director,” shared Dean Larry Dennis. “She has a wealth of experience and passion for our students and our innovative programs.”
Moving forward, Mon says the iSchool will continue to meet the demand for technology skills and for a curriculum that creates innovators, leaders and lifelong learners for today’s fast-paced job market.
Dr. Mon is a member of ASIS&T, ALISE and ALA. She holds a PhD in Information Science from University of Washington at Seattle and a Master of Science in Information & Library Services from University of Michigan.
