School of Information (iSchool) adjunct professor Christie Koontz and retired faculty Lorri Mon have been called to write the third edition of their book, “Marketing and Social Media: A Guide for Libraries, Museums and Archives!”
Koontz and Mon initially collaborated on their first book in 2014 after teaching innovative marketing and social media management classes for the iSchool at Florida State University. “I kept thinking, as social media grew as a communication tool, we should explore its value for marketing to a wider audience,” Koontz recalled. “I contacted Lorri and the rest is history.”
Previous editions of the book have been well-received as an introductory textbook and guide for working professionals due to their practical approach and comprehensive coverage.
Now, their publisher, Rowman & Littlefield, has contacted them again due to the ever-changing social media landscape. “We are thrilled that marketing principles still provide a solid framework and that our guide is valued,” said Koontz. She emphasized the importance of “always believing in the value of what you know and sharing it.”
Readers can expect the release of the third edition in early 2025, promising updated content to help institutions navigate the dynamic world of social media marketing.
