Richard Morris, professor in the School of Communication Science and Disorders, has recently received a Critical Thinking Initiatives grant as a part of Florida State University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). QEP is centered around teaching critical thinking skills to undergraduate students.
Morris received a Discipline Focused Project grant to provide time and funding to develop a “critical thinking thread” through the School of Communication Science and Disorders. Morris will be assisted by two of his colleagues in the School of Communication Science and Disorders.
The group aims to include all 12 critical thinking skills in the AACU’s critical thinking VALUE rubric through discussing class activities that have been demonstrated to enhance student use of specific skills. Focus on a specified subset of the skills in each course will allow a cumulative effect and address all 12 critical thinking skills. A set of evaluations will be completed before and after training.
