The Summer 2007 issue of Forum, the magazine of the Florida Humanities Council, features an article about the Florida Book Awards and Professor Wayne Wiegand of the College of Information. The magazine also includes excerpts from winners of the 2006 awards, such as Carl Hiaasen and Michael Grunwald. The Florida Book Awards were the brainchild of Dr. Wiegand, who created them to recognize, honor, and celebrate the best works of Florida writers and scholars each year. It is one of only six statewide book competitions in the U.S. To see an online list of 2006 award winners and read excerpts from their books.
