The College of Communication and Information is pleased to announce the promotion of Mafé Brooks to Assistant Dean of Development. The new role expands her responsibilities as the first lead fundraiser for major gifts for International Programs (IP) and global initiatives at Florida State University (FSU). International Programs provide quality international learning environments where students are challenged to be learners, leaders, achievers, and contributors within a global community.
Brooks has a proven track record of success in advancement and has raised over $21 million for the College and FSU over the years. She has created philanthropic partnerships with alumni and donors in creating and maintaining high-quality programs throughout the College and ensuring that the next generation of students receives a great education and finds opportunities that set them up for success.
“The opportunity to partner with IP will allow me to enrich my knowledge in areas that I’ve always been passionate about and will allow me to expand our university network of alumni and donors beyond borders,” Brooks said. “I’m excited to thrive in this new role and continue supporting our students and university. It is an enriching experience to witness our world-class faculty and students succeed and thrive.”
In her new role, Brooks is entrusted with engaging and building relationships with alumni who attended IP’s study abroad centers, primarily in Florence, London, and Valencia. Brooks will be responsible for developing and executing IP’s fundraising strategy, which will open doors to creating more scholarships that will provide students with more opportunities to expand their horizons globally. She will also work closely with the IP’s leadership team, faculty, and staff and collaborate with colleagues across campus to ensure that IP has the resources it needs to continue to provide life-changing experiences for students to explore, perceive and understand intercultural issues through engagement with global problems, international cultures, and foreign languages. She will continue to be responsible for developing and executing the College’s fundraising strategy and laying the groundwork for FSU’s next comprehensive campaign.
Dr. Stephen McDowell, Interim Dean of the College of Communication and Information, said, “We are very grateful for the energy and commitment Mafé Brooks has shown to assist the students and faculty of our College over many years. I have personally observed the high regard and affection our alumni and friends have for Brooks. We are glad to recognize this leadership through her promotion to the position of Assistant Dean of Development in the College.”
Dr. James Pitts, Director of International Programs, said, “International Programs is very excited to have an experienced development officer such as Mafé Brooks join our team. She is a wonderful addition to our team and has joined with enthusiasm. We look forward to much success with Mafé leading our development efforts.”
Hanya Noussier, Graduate Assistant of Development, added, “I’m honored to have worked with Mafé as her graduate assistant and intern for the last three and a half years. She is a tenacious trailblazer in the field of advancement. She has inspired me in so many ways as she flourished in hyper-collaborative and dynamic workspaces and allowed me to expand my knowledge in giving areas, including (time, treasure, talent) and beyond. I’m so proud of her and can’t wait to witness all the new transitional success stories in the making.”
Please join us in congratulating Mafé Brooks on her promotion.
