Life as an FSU Student
What made you choose your major?
Growing up, I struggled with my math classes and dreaded every moment of learning about numbers. When it came to reading and writing, I wasn’t just good at it – I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure how I would take my passion for that and turn it into a career until I found out about the EWM program. In today’s modern age we are surrounded by media content through platforms such as social media, so I figured that EWM could help me become a leader in the media world.
What does your average day look like?
My days are long but I love being kept busy. I work a full-time restaurant job along with attending school full-time. This summer, I spend Monday and Tuesday at my internship from 8am-4pm, Wednesday’s, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays you can find me from 6am-3pm at Canopy Road Cafe. Thursday’s are my only day off and I usually spend those sleeping in, going to the gym, playing with my dog, cooking and spending time with friends.
Your favorite study spot on campus?
The basement in Strozier Library.
What’s your dream career?
I constantly see myself in different careers. As of right now, working as a product manager for a major corporation is where I see myself in the future.
Share a notable (funny, embarrassing, exciting) experience you’ve had at FSU?
During last spring’s finals week I was in the library studying like everyone else at the university. I unpacked my bag and opened my laptop when rap music starting blaring and my computer froze on the screen for a solid two minutes. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at me, either laughing or fuming for disrupting their train of thought.
Have you participated in any internships?
I’ve participated in a couple! This summer, I’m interning with the FSU College of Communication and Information as a Digital Media Coordinator.
Are you involved with student organizations?
I am a member of the Advertising Club.
Who do you look to for inspiration?
As cheesy as it sounds, I look within for inspiration.
How do you handle school-life balance?
Making sure I get enough sleep & water and prioritizing tasks for the week.
What advice would you give yourself in college?
Surround yourself with people that only help you become a better you. Don’t worry too much because with hard work everything will somehow work out how its supposed to be.
What motivates you?
My drive for excellence and wanting to be a better me.
