Meet Healy

Who do you admire and why?
I admire Ebe Randeree and Besty Crawford because they help so many students become engaged in organizations on campus and the university as a whole. So many of my on-campus involvements like CCI Leadership Council and Coeducation can be accredited to them.

What Jeopardy category could you clear, no problem?
World History!

Favorite snack?
Smoothies.

Best account to follow on social media?
@fastcompany because they post incredible articles that keep my eyes open to new innovations, ideas and social problems

Best piece of advice you’ve received?
“Half the battle is showing up.” Many of the best things I’ve done started off with me being intimidated and even scared to start. Stepping out of my comfort zone and showing up has led to greatness.

Life as an FSU Student

What made you choose your major?
My mom studied computer science in college and has been a positive female role model for me my whole life. I knew I was interested in urban planning from the start because of my love for cities, the environment, and transportation, but I wanted to do more. Seeing my mom’s passion for technology and it’s growing presence in our world led me to the ICT major here!

What does your average day look like?
I work as a university campus ambassador, so I usually lead tours to prospective students in the morning. My afternoons are a combination of class, studying at Lucky Goat Coffee or Power Plant in Cascades Park. Lastly, at the end of the day I will usually catch up with friends, do some yoga or watch Parks and Rec before bed!

Your favorite study spot on campus?
Landis Green.

What’s your dream career?
Doing UX design for a city’s transportation system would be my dream.

Share a notable (funny, embarrassing, exciting) experience you’ve had at FSU?
I was thrown in the Westcott Fountain on my last campus tour in front of around 30 prospective students.

Have you participated in any internships?
Last summer, I interned with Allscripts which is a healthcare IT company based in Chicago. It was absolutely incredible and so cool to work in a corporate headquarters in a big city. I’ve also entered with two companies out of Domi Station here in Tallahassee: Cuttlesoft and Unhoused Humanity.

Are you involved with student organizations?
Besides being a university ambassador, I am also in Coeducation, Chi Omega Fraternity, CCI Leadership Council and I was a morale captain for Dance Marathon for two years.

Who do you look to for inspiration?
Mindy Kaling and Hillary Clinton!

How do you handle school-life balance?
Making sure I get enough yoga and outdoor time, it keeps me sane!

What advice would you give yourself in college?
Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Everything happens for a reason!

What motivates you?
Passion. Doing things I love never gets old.
