The College of Communication and Information is excited to welcome Billy Marcantel as its new Career Liaison. Learn more about Billy below.
Billy was raised in Tennessee and joined the United States Air Force after high school, where he was enlisted for 6 years. While enlisted, he specialized in managing tactical information data links as well as reviewing courseware development for job specific computer-based training modules. After his time in the Air Force, he attended Middle Tennessee State University where he received a B.S. in Recreation and then attended Louisiana State University where he received a M.S. in Sport Management. While attending LSU, he supervised University Recreation’s Adventure Trips and Outdoor Rental Equipment programs as the Adventure Education Graduate Assistant. Upon completion of his M.S., Billy spent 4 years at Florida Gulf Coast University in their Campus Recreation department where he was responsible for all Outdoor Recreation programming. More recently, Billy joins us from Gainesville, FL, where he worked for the City of Gainesville as their Recreation Manager and where he was responsible for oversight of the City’s Recreation Division and programming. Billy is excited to be able to share his insight and experience as divisional supervisor and hiring manager with FSU students to aid them in their career development pursuits.
Currently in his position as a Career Liaison, he is supporting the College of Communication and Information as well as the College of Motion Picture Arts and Veteran Students.
Billy has a passion for leadership development and helping groups build positive working relationships. He has several years of experience with facilitating various team building, leadership, and organizational development programs, workshops, and institutes for corporate, non-profit, and university groups. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors and woodworking.
