From a group of CI doctoral students:
Brian Arbogast de Hubert-Miller was a respected colleague of the doctoral students in the College of Information at Florida State University. Brian would often share his research methods, information architecture expertise, and of course his sense of humor with his fellow doctoral students. Because so many of us have been touched by Brian’s life, the doctoral students would like to honor him by participating in the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Challenge which raises funds for cancer patient support and education.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation provides information, tools and support to deal with the emotional, mental and physical challenges during and after the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Before he passed, we contacted Brian to get his permission to honor him by forming a cycling team that would raise funds and ride in the Livestrong Challenge on September 10, 2006, in Philadelphia, PA. This was Brian’s email response:
‘it is so me.’ — it is exactly the kind of thing that I would like.
I think this is a wonderful idea and you have my support.
Thanks for thinking of me.
As always,
Brian
With Brian’s support the doctoral students of the College of Information at Florida State University have formed a cycling team to ride in the Livestrong Challenge. The team has been named BrIAn’s Team because Brian believed in strengthening information delivery through the field of Information Architecture, or IA as it is often referred to.
We would like to ask you to join us in honoring Brian and his support of an organization built on the foundation of providing information to those who truly need it.
Here is how you can help:
(1) Join our team (Click here to read the requirements and sign up)
(2) Sponsor someone on the team riding for Brian. (Bike Riders need a minimum of $500).
Learn more about the Livestrong Challenge and the Lance Armstrong Foundation (a true information organization).
