Congratulations to Catharine “Caty” Greene and Natasha Fortune, who have won two of the three 2012 Florida Library Association (FLA) Scholarships available to graduate students.
Each year the FLA awards three $2,000 graduate scholarships, one to a student attending Florida State University, one to a student at the University of South Florida and one, the Minority Scholarship, to a student attending either school.
Caty Greene, who won the FLA’s Florida State University Award is a librarian at the Apalachicola Municipal Library. She was raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she used to work after school some afternoons with her mother at the Harvard University History of Science Library.
Natasha Fortune, winner of the FLA Minority Award, works at the UCF College of Medicine library. She said, “It is such an honor to be awarded the FLA Minority Scholarship as I begin my studies towards an MLIS degree. This success serves as an encouraging reminder of my potential in the field.”
The awards will be presented at the 2012 Annual Conference of the Florida Library Association, which takes place April 18–20 in Orlando.
