Health Informatics Group completes first year

The FSU Health Informatics Users Group (HiUG) led by Ebrahim Randeree (Assistant Professor, College of Information) and Nadine Dexter (Head of Public Services, Maguire Medical Library) has completed its first year. The ad-hoc group meets monthly to discuss health/medical informatics issues and research, with the goal of creating an informatics curriculum and establishing an FSU program in health informatics. Members represent the College of Information, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, Campus Libraries (Goldstein Library, Dirac Library, Strozier Library, Maguire Library), the Office for Distributed and Distance Learning (ODDL), and the Office of Technology Integration (OTI).

Dr. Randeree co-taught the first health informatics course at the College this spring, with an enrollment of 52 undergraduate and 20 graduate students. He will be teaching the undergraduate health informatics course this fall. Nadine Dexter is the president of the Florida Health Science Library Association and recently completed the AMIA 10 x 10 course for Medical Informatics.
