Alumna Platt appointed editor of ALA division newsletter

SLIS alumna Alice Platt (’09) has been appointed as the new editor of the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Newsletter Online. The ALCTS is a division of the American Library Association. The three-year appointment begins on July 1, 2011.

Alice is currently the digital initiatives librarian at Southern New Hampshire University. Prior to receiving her MLIS from the FSU School of Library & Information Studies, she had a career in publishing. The information about her publishing career below is from the June 10, 2011 ALA press release that announced her appointment:

She was newsletter editor for the Sierra Club of Northeast Florida, graphic designer for Minuteman Press and Bailey Publishing, both in Jacksonville, Fla., and a production manager for a small press in South Carolina.  She managed her own small press, Rock Spring Press, for five years prior to finishing her library degree.  In addition to her MLS, Alice holds a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of South Carolina.
